Sylvain Rifflet est un digne descendant de ces troubadours du XIIe siècle : de projet en projet, il trouve de nouvelles manières de conjuguer et faire résonner le mot jazz.

En s’intéressant à la musique médiévale monodique, accompagnée à l’époque par un bourdon, il a adopté une shruti-box, instrument indien à anches libres et à soufflet qu’il actionne au moyen d’une pédale mécanique.

Seul sur scène, il confronte le son unique de ses instruments à ce fascinant drone, autour des premiers poèmes musicaux de l’amour, de Bach, de compositions originales et de quelques standards de jazz.

Sylvain Rifflet is a worthy descendant of the 12th-century troubadours: from one project to another, he discovers new ways to combine and make the word jazz resonate.

By exploring medieval monophonic music, which at the time was accompanied by a drone, he adopted the shruti box — an Indian free-reed, bellows-driven instrument operated by a mechanical pedal.

Alone on stage, he sets the singular sound of his instruments against this fascinating drone, weaving around the earliest musical poems of love, works by Bach, original compositions, and a few jazz standards.
